Unmoderated prototype tests allow you to evaluate Figma designs and prototypes with your customers, validate early design concepts and get usability feedback.
This guide shows a step-by-step on setting up unmoderated test with prototypes. Also, see a guided video about setting up unmoderated prototype tests.
1. Getting started
Within your workspace, get started by creating an unmoderated study under + Create new.
2. Select a template or start from scratch
Select any of the templates that are available or start from scratch. You can enter a name for your study (if you don't enter a name, the study will be named Start from scratch by default).
3. Add a prototype task
customize your study by adding tasks and tweaking instructions. To add your Figma file, add Prototype task.
Insert the Figma link to import the file in the preview stage. You can refer to Learn where to find your prototype link to see how you can get a sharable prototype link.
Depending on the size and the complexity of the prototype, importing may take a moment. In order to create a smoother testing experience we recommend creating separate prototype file for testing purposes. Please refer to our guide on optimizing prototypes for testing.
4. Customize the task
After the importing is done, make sure to add any instructions or additional steps to guide your participants. You can set specific success criteria if you want Hubble to track task success rates depending on the specific paths that participants take.
- Creating an expected path is simple, you just have to click through the prototype to record the expected path. As you make clicks on the prototype, you will be able to see each of the frames show up on the bottom right.
- By default, instructions to think out loud and finding a quiet testing environment will be displayed to the participants before starting the prototype task.
5. Set recording options
You'll want to enable either screen recording or voice recording as participants go through the prototype tasks. This will let you visualize how participants interact with your prototype.
You can either record the entire study or just the prototype task.
6. Preview your study
Before publishing the study, make sure to preview it to ensure that the study flows as you expect it to be.
7. Publish your study
After previewing and making final tweaks, you can publish your study by selecting Publish. Please remember that you cannot make changes or edit studies once they are published.
